Jo French Morales

Jo is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with 20 years experience working with children, young people, adults and families in a variety of different settings.

Jo worked with the NSW Department of Health and local and international non-government organisations. Much of her therapeutic experience has involved supporting people who have experienced trauma in the context of war, family violence and abuse (including interpersonal violence and sexual assault).

Jo has also worked extensively with individuals who are experiencing challenges in the context of mental health, work and school related stressors, life transitions, separation and divorce, parenting and relationship difficulties. She has worked with individuals who are victims of crime and supported them through criminal court proceedings, families who are involved in family court proceedings and children and carers who are engaged in the child protection systems.

Having worked overseas as well as with people from migrant and refugee backgrounds in Australia, Jo brings a wealth of experience working with people from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds.

Jo utilises a combination of strengths-based therapies including solution-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy and play and art based therapies.

Jo brings knowledge of how adversity and trauma can impact people in their lives as well as a curiosity about what has helped people get through these adverse events. She loves to engage with people’s current knowledge, strength and creativity, as well as hearing their experiences and helping them find new ways to navigate through their difficulties.

Jo can provide therapy in English and Spanish.

Jo also provides social work supervision and is available to provide training and consultation.

• BSW (Hons)- University of Sydney

• MSocDev (CommDev)- University of NSW,  AMHSW

• Accredited Mental Health Social Worker

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from TAFE
