Petra Hooyenga

Petra Hooyenga MSc CPN is a clinical nutritionist and nutritional medicine practitioner. She has over 10 years of experience of providing personalised nutritional medicine treatment with a ‘food first’ focus on the quality of diet providing essential nutrients and co-factors to support physical and psychological health. 


Petra is a G.E.M.M. (Gut Ecology and Metabolic Modulation) accredited clinician. G.E.M.M. is a unique system of healthcare designed to harness the principles of Nature in helping to restore normal function to human cells.  All aspects of this treatment protocol have their foundation in peer-reviewed scientific evidence.


Petra has extensive experience supporting adults and children presenting with:


  • Digestive issues, with or without associated fatigue and skin problems

  • Cardiometabolic issues, including elevated blood sugar, cholesterol, BP and overweight

  • Chronic inflammatory conditions, including allergies, sensitivities, joint-pain, sudden weight gain

  • Different physical symptoms, seemingly unrelated, without medical explanation, that affect the ability to function properly

  • The intention to pro-actively seek personalised nutritional medicine support for disease prevention and health optimisation

Petra provides consultations in both English and Dutch.

In addition to her clinical practice, Petra is a research affiliate and Health, Longevity and Wellness Project engagement officer with the Healthy Longevity Research Team at the Charles Perkins Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney.
